There is now 2 ways to get to the beach:
The "New Road" - Autopista del Sol After you pass the bridge, you will see a gas station and mini-super called Media Luna. You make a LEFT at a large blacktop intersection less than 5 minutes down this road. You will go downhill through a small area called "La Garita" and in just a few minutes you will arrive at the new highway. Getting on the new highway is actually kind of tricky, you drive up the overpass or drive under the overpass and take the next two lefts. |
The "Old Route" - Through Atenas ** This way is marked in detail on our google map, shown at top of page ** Go over the overpass and follow the road thru the mountains. You will first pass through Atenas. There is a turn to watch out for in a town called San Mateo. You enter the town, but the 2 way part splits for a second as your lane veers to the right. At the next road, you make a left and drive by the city park which should be on your right hand side. Stay on the road as you begin to enter Orotina. Keep going, a few blocks later you will see a sign for Playa Jaco, follow the ramp to the right to merge with the highway. |
Take the exit towards Jaco Beach
Stay on the highway. You will pass by Orotina and several toll booths then eventually see an exit sign for Playa Jaco, take this exit. You follow this highway for about 30 minutes. You will know your heading in the right direction when you pass a long bridge that spans the Tarcoles River. After that, keep going until you start to pass through Playa Jaco. Stay on the highway. Hermosa is 5 minutes past Jaco. Once you are in Hermosa, the hotel is 500 yards past the soccer field on the right hand side. We have a big painting on the front of the building and the name SURF INN HERMOSA painted on the front. Reception is up the second set of stairs on the 3rd Floor in the Cafe. Our building has a giant mural shown here on the right, easily visible from the highway.
